"The experts explained everything so clearly, walking us through actual case studies step by step. This really helped young doctors gain a deeper understanding of respiratory diseases treatment guidelines."
"Practical skills like spirometer and continuous positive airway pressure are especially valuable for us at the primary-level medical units."
"We hope to see more specialized training programs in the future, particularly on bronchoscopy techniques. It would be wonderful if experts could come for hands-on guidance."
From 2025 April 14th to 16th, 46 primary-level healthcare units physicians of respiratory medicine, cardiopulmonary departments, and medical imaging department participated in the inaugural session of "Primary-level Healthcare Units Respiratory Health Action" Training Program in Guangzhou, China. It was hosted by the National Center for Respiratory Medicine and National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Diseases at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, and organized by the Guangdong Association of Thoracic Diseases and Zhong Nanshan Medical Foundation of Guangdong Province.
Primary-level healthcare units serve as the cornerstone of the respiratory disease prevention and treatment network. Through a series of training initiatives, we aim to cultivate over 10,000 professionals at the primary level, ensuring standardized diagnosis and treatment services reach more patients.
During the training, leading experts from our center provided in-depth interpretations of the latest clinical guidelines relevant to primary respiratory care, supplemented by real-world case analyses to highlight key diagnostic and treatment considerations. Beyond theoretical teaching, the program included hands-on training in critical skills such as spirometry operation, domestic oxygen therapy, ventilator and so on.
Moreover, participants visit the Visual Smart Clinic and National Big-data Center for Respiratory Medicine, as well as Academician MDT grand rounds guided by Prof. Zhong Nanshan, who is the Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Director of National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Diseases.
